WWE is hosting tryouts for wrestlers from various independent promotions in parallel with their SummerSlam event. The major WWE PLE is set to take place at U.S Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, over two nights, August 1st and 2nd.
So far, many standout independent wrestlers have been given an invite to join the tryouts from promotions like MLW and OVW.
Thanks for the submission!
The latest wrestler to get an invite is American Gladiators competitor Jessica Roden, better known as J-Rod. She appeared as “Supernova” on the show, which has many known names from wrestling like The Miz and Rick Boogs.
Roden posted a story about it on Instagram following the official invite.

Roden is a free agent, and if the tryouts go well for her, she could become a part of the Stamford-based promotion, making a major leap in her career.
Alexa Bliss will miss out on WWE SummerSlam
The SummerSlam tryouts will have recruits, but some veterans may lose their place in the process. Among them is WWE superstar Alexa Bliss.
Bliss has been a top star in WWE for over a decade now, but in recent times she hasn’t had a main-event push and has been tagging with her best friend Charlotte Flair for the past year or so. Bliss returned at the 2025 Royal Rumble after a two-year hiatus and has since been a regular on WWE TV, but primarily as a part of the tag team division.
She has most recently been written off television after Jade Cargill severely injured her arm after a brutal steel chair bending of it on SmackDown. Bliss tried to tell WWE to include her and Charlotte Flair in the SummerSlam ladder match for the Interim Women’s Champion (in current champion Rhea Ripley’s absence due to injury). But the company hasn’t included her for the match or elsewhere in the event.
WWE is in a transitional phase, currently, where many new stars are emerging from NXT (such as Sol Ruca, Trick Williams, and Je’Von Evans), and new stars are sure to come in from the tryouts, leaving multiple wrestlers from the past decade fighting for a spot on TV. Only time will tell how they see out this period at the Stamford-based promotion.
