Seth Rollins is days away from competing at WWE SummerSlam in Minnesota for the World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns. Rollins recently opened up about a move that he regrets in the Stamford-based promotion.
In June 2014, Seth Rollins turned on Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose when Rollins attacked Reigns and Ambrose with a steel chair, marking the end of The Shield on WWE’s main roster. The three stars went on different journeys in the industry in the coming years, and The Visionary and The Tribal Chief are ready to settle scores once and for all at SummerSlam in Minneapolis.
Thanks for the submission!
In an interview on WWE‘s YouTube channel, The Visionary opened up about the chair shot to the back and shockingly revealed that the decision was probably made in haste and that he didn’t think twice before turning on his former stablemates. Moreover, the 40-year-old WWE star believes that it was his actions that turned Roman Reigns into the Tribal Chief.
“While I think the chair shot itself and the decision was probably made in haste and made without the foresight of what it would become, I never imagined Roman Reigns would become the Tribal Chief based on the resentment, the pain, and the PTSD from that chair shot. And I never imagined exactly how our paths would go, but I think what it did was give us a chance, right? It gave us both an opportunity to step out on our own and become the things that we were meant to become,” Rollins said.
Seth Rollins added that he’s happy where they are in their respective careers but often questions his decision to attack Roman Reigns in June 2014.
“I think about it all the time because there are so many times over the years when I have regretted the chair shot, wondered if I made a mistake, and questioned everything that I have ever done. There were some rough years for me and him … And so there was a lot of doubt. Did I do the right thing? Was it off or not? Was it a waste? Looking at where we are at now and everything that we’ve been able to accomplish individually. I mean, to me, there’s no other answer. It was the right call. And, I do think that for better or worse, it sort of shaped who the Tribal Chief is,” Rollins said.
Seth Rollins might not get another shot at Roman Reigns following WWE SummerSlam
Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns have had countless encounters in WWE as in-ring performers under two different regimes. However, both stars have dominated the industry for years, and new stars will eventually earn their way to the top.
Last month, The Visionary pointed out that this might be their last chance and Roman Reigns’ only chance to get a clean victory over him. While the Tribal Chief hesitated at first, the World Heavyweight Champion agreed to give his former stablemate a title shot at The Biggest Party of the Summer in Minnesota.
