Spider-Man: Brand New Day has opened to a record-breaking start at the Indian box office. Starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, the latest Marvel film has become the biggest Hollywood opener ever in India, beating the first-day collections of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and Holland’s recent release ‘The Odyssey.’

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Spider-Man: Brand New Day collected Rs 61 crore on its opening day across all versions in India.

Sharing the box office numbers on X, Adarsh wrote, “‘SPIDER-MAN’ CREATES HISTORY – BLOCKBUSTER OPENING DAY – BIGGEST HOLLYWOOD OPENER EVER IN INDIA… #SpiderManBrandNewDay has rewritten the record books in India.”

He added that the film has gone past the opening-day collection of Avengers: Endgame, which had earned Rs 53.10 crore, making it the biggest Hollywood opener of all time in India.

Adarsh also said that the film has become the biggest opening ever for the Spider-Man franchise in India and the biggest opener for Sony Pictures Entertainment in the country.

He further shared that Spider-Man: Brand New Day was released on more than 5,000 screens across India, making it the widest release ever for a Hollywood film in the country.

Looking ahead, Adarsh predicted a strong opening weekend for the superhero film. “#SpiderManBrandNewDay is expected to collect a phenomenal ₹ 210 cr [+/-] in its extended 4-day opening weekend, setting yet another benchmark for a non-Indian film,” he wrote.Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo.

Holland made his debut as Peter Parker in 2016’s ‘Captain America: Civil War’, officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He went on to headline ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ alongside Robert Downey Jr., before reprising the role in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, ‘Avengers: Endgame’, ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, a cameo in ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’, and ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.
