Marvin Harrison Jr. was supposed to be among the Arizona Cardinals‘ saviors this decade. Instead, he has seemingly become yet another epitome of the franchise’s eternal struggles, if a recent video is to be believed.
On Saturday, footage emerged of the third-year wide receiver dropping an easy pass during practice:

Harrison had a better account of himself the next day, scoring a touchdown from Gardner Minshew during scrimmage. However, he left early after apparently suffering an injury.
While it was initially feared to be to his back, this video from ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss shows him pointing at his ankle before leaving the field:
Around half an hour later, Weinfuss provided this update:
“Marvin Harrison Jr. went to the sideline again after a play and has been grimacing as he bends backward. Hard to tell what exactly is bothering him but he’s been stretching and taking something for it. He’s also spent some time in cobra pose. The trainer just checked on him but that conversation didn’t last long.”
Could new Cardinals HC Mike LaFleur unlock Marvin Harrison Jr.’s full potential? Analyst weighs in
2026 marks a new chapter in Marvin Harrison Jr‘.s career.
After two years under the defense-oriented Jonathan Gannon, he gets to play under an offensively-minded head coach for the first time, as Mike LaFleur takes the helm. Last month, the former offensive coordinator said he would deploy Harrison as an X-receiver — similarly to how he utilized Davante Adams during his previous gig with the Los Angeles Rams.
And for Arizona Sports’ Tyler Drake, that would be a good comparison to emulate for the athlete-coach duo’s first year together:
“Let (Michael) Wilson chew up receiving yards and be the equalizer where it’s needed most. Harrison putting up a similar stat line to Adams’ 789 yards and 14 touchdowns in his first year with LaFleur would have a lot of Cardinals fans breathing a sigh of relief.”
The Cardinals will take Monday off, then return on Tuesday for their first practice with pads.
