    Derrick Henry sets record straight after interview with Kay Adams goes wrong

    Derrick Henry wants his career to end in Baltimore. He does not want anyone thinking that ending is close.

    The Ravens running back cleaned up a mix-up on Thursday sparked by his own training camp interview. Speaking with Kay Adams on the “Up & Adams Show” on Wednesday, Henry said, “When I’m done playing, I want it to be here.” The show’s social media account turned that into a headline, posting that Henry “wants to retire as a Raven.”

    Henry retweeted on X within hours:

    “I would like to finish my playing career with Ravens . I never said anything about retiring lol , I’m enjoying being a Raven . I’ll worry about that retirement sh* later .”

    Derrick Henry is under contract through 2027 and is coming off a season in which he rushed for 1,595 yards and 16 touchdowns, both among the best marks of his 10-year career. At 32, he’s entering his third season in Baltimore.

    Since joining the Ravens in 2024, Henry has racked up 3,516 yards and 32 touchdowns rushing across 34 games. For his career, he’s cleared 13,000 yards and 122 touchdowns rushing, with seven 1,000-yard seasons on his résume.

    During his sit-down with Adams, Derrick Henry was also asked about rookie wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane, who has drawn attention early in training camp.

    Henry compared Lane’s ball skills to those of former teammate DeAndre Hopkins.

    “When D-Hop was in his prime, wasn’t no ball that he couldn’t catch. (Lane is) starting to give me that vibe,” Henry said. “I’m not saying he’s there right now, but wherever the ball’s at, it’s his.”

    Offensive coordinator Declan Doyle also likened Lane to Michael Thomas, a receiver Doyle coached as an offensive assistant with the New Orleans Saints from 2019 to 2022.
