Dana White confirmed what injury Conor McGregor picked up in his ill-fated UFC return, and it doesn’t look like the Irishman will be returning anytime soon.

McGregor came back after five years out to fight Max Holloway in UFC 329’s main event. While the Irishman looked to be in great shape, he injured his right knee just a few seconds into the fight.

The Irishman was unable to continue, and the clash was called off by the referee after just a minute of the first round.

While McGregor has kept the extent of the damage hidden from the public, many have suggested he could have suffered an ACL injury.

White, while speaking to the media after UFC Oklahoma City, was asked about McGregor’s condition.

White confirmed that McGregor was to go under the knife:

“He’s having knee surgery…he’s gonna have to go through physical therapy. It’s all gonna take time. And then when the doctor says you can start hardcore training again, then we can talk about Conor.”

He was then asked the extent of McGregor’s injury, and the UFC president initially didn’t know what the damage was, but got an update from someone offscreen:

“ACL. His knee is f***** up.”

Check out Dana White’s comments on Conor McGregor below:

An ACL injury could keep McGregor out for a year, at least, which would be terrible news for the Irishman. While he wants a return quickly, a former UFC champion believes things will not be great for the Irishman.

Michael Bisping believes Conor McGregor’s career is over

Michael Bisping, a former UFC champion, believes Conor McGregor is done after his UFC 329 injury.

‘The Count’ was discussing the UFC 329 main event at a post-event panel, and claimed that the ACL tear was a career-ending injury:

“If it’s a real surgery, if he’s blown an ACL, he’s gonna have to take a year, 18 months out. Then that’s it. The career is over.”

McGregor has had a tough time with injuries, as he suffered a serious knock that required surgery after his loss to Dustin Poirier in his previous fight.

He was scheduled to fight Michael Chandler in 2024, but injured his toe before the clash and had to wait till UFC 329 for his comeback.
