Chelsea Green is officially headed to WWE SummerSlam after picking up a crucial victory on this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown. The former United States Champion defeated Kiana James in a high-stakes Interim WWE Women’s Championship qualifying match.

Once the bell rang, Kiana James wasted no time asserting her dominance. She brought an aggressive approach from the opening moments, overpowering Green and controlling much of the early action. James’ offense extended beyond the ring as she dominated her opponent both inside the squared circle and on the arena floor.

After weathering the storm, Chelsea Green began to turn the tide as the match returned to the ring. The Hot Mess avoided a crushing elbow drop from James before firing back with a pair of quick arm drags to finally gain some momentum.

Green then planted James with a Rough Ryder, paying tribute to her husband, Matt Cardona, and immediately hooked the leg for a pinfall. James, however, showed her resilience by kicking out and keeping her SummerSlam hopes alive.

The momentum swung back in James’ favor moments later. She caught Green with a superkick before lifting her into a thunderous Falcon Arrow. James went for the cover, but Green narrowly escaped defeat by kicking out at the count of two.

The final sequence featured a rapid exchange of finishing moves. James tried to maintain control, but Green quickly countered. The Hot Mess caught her opponent off guard and perfectly executed the Unprettier to score the pinfall victory.

With the win, Chelsea Green becomes the third official entrant in the Interim WWE Women’s Championship Ladder Match, joining Jade Cargill and Tiffany Stratton, who had already qualified for the championship bout last week. The winner of the five-woman contest will leave SummerSlam holding interim championship gold while Rhea Ripley continues her recovery.

The Hot Mess now has a golden opportunity to add another singles championship to her WWE resume on one of the biggest stages of the year.
