AEW star Buddy Matthews broke the silence after not being part of Double or Nothing. He has been one of the top athletes in the Jacksonville-based promotion. He was part of the House of Black since joining the company. Despite being a top star, he has yet to reach at the top of the mountain. His journey to the top is delayed even further because of an unfortunate incident last year.

At the 2025 Grand Slam Australia, the former AEW World Trios Champion challenged Kazuchika Okada for the Continental Championship. Unfortunately, he injured his ankle during the match and has been sidelined since. While he is yet to be cleared, he recently returned to Australia’s World Series Wrestling earlier this month. He even attacked Donovan Dijak. However, the AEW star will be cleared for action in October 2026.

Buddy Matthews hasn’t appeared on AEW programming for over a year and wasn’t present at Double or Nothing. Following the blockbuster pay-per-view, the former AEW World Trios Champion took to Instagram and shared a chilling message.

“If Hell is waiting for me, I’ll walk in like I own the place!” he wrote.

Rhea Ripley claims she could bring Buddy Matthews back to WWE

The Eradicator married Matthews in 2024. The two worked together at the global sports entertainment juggernaut. Rhea Ripley is still part of the promotion and is currently holding the WWE Women’s Championship. While Mami has always been at the top, Buddy Matthews struggled to find momentum in WWE during his stint. However, in AEW, he has become a more valuable asset.

While speaking on IPWA, Rhea Ripley said that she could convince Buddy to join WWE in the future.

“Ohh, Maybe, maybe. I don’t know. So, I’m very convincing. I’m a very convincing girl, you know. I normally get what I want. So, it might happen, you never know. But right now I’m happy with my DomDom. I’m happy going out there with him and Finn and Damian and I mean, you never know what the future holds. It might happen,” she said.

It will be interesting to see when the AEW star will be back in action.
