The Minister also took stock of issues affecting the farmers and the FPCs. He said that Agriculture Department would organise a meeting soon with litchi exporters and farmers to grow production and exports.

In his interaction with the farmers, the Minister took stock of issues such as pest menace, the requirements of FPCs of subsidized tractors and power tillers, solar lights etc.
The Minister called on the litchi farmers to provide at least 2 lakh litchi saplings for distribution to farmers across the State. He stressed on the importance of increasing production of cash crops like litchis, coconuts, areca nuts for growing farmers’ income. Agriculture Department has set a target of distributing 1 lakh such saplings in each constituency from next year, he said.
The Minister also stated that our young generation must also take up farming of such profitable crops and not blame unverified factors such as mobile tower radiation etc for not utilising their lands to plant coconut, areca nuts etc.
