INERA Crop Science, CropNXT partner to tap Rs 500 crore biological agri-input market

Kolkata: Biological agri-input company INERA Crop Science has entered into a multi-year partnership with agri-distribution firm CropNXT Solutions to expand its presence in eastern and northern India, with the companies estimating the collaboration could unlock a business opportunity of around Rs 500 crore.

The partnership will focus on Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha, where the companies plan to market biological agri-inputs through CropNXT’s network of over 5,000 channel partners and retail outlets. They aim to reach more than 65 lakh farmers and cover nearly 20 lakh acres under cultivation over the course of the partnership.

The move comes as biological crop inputs are witnessing increased interest amid concerns over rising fertiliser costs, deteriorating soil health and the need to improve farm productivity sustainably. Biological products, which include microbial and plant-based formulations, are increasingly being positioned as complementary inputs to conventional fertilisers and crop protection products.

INERA will provide its portfolio of biological agri-inputs, while CropNXT will leverage its distribution network and farmer outreach across the identified markets.

Agam Khare, founder of INERA Crop Science, said the partnership is aimed at scaling the adoption of biological solutions among smallholder farmers. “Climate change is already visible in the fields of Indian smallholder farmers through heat stress, pest pressure and rising input costs,” he added.
