Team India pacer Arshdeep Singh has been named in the 15-member North Zone squad for the upcoming 2026-27 Duleep Trophy. The seamer was part of India’s disastrous recent white-ball tour of England, where they lost the T20I and ODI series, 0-4 and 1-2, respectively.

Six players from the Ranji Trophy-winning Jammu and Kashmir side have been rewarded with a place in the North Zone roster, including wicketkeeper-batter Kanhaiya Wadhawan, who will lead North Zone in the Duleep Trophy.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj, who made his Team India debut in the Test tour of England last year, is also part of the North Zone squad. Kamboj impressed in his limited appearances in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy, picking up 13 wickets in five matches at an average of 27.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had two of their middle-order stars, Abdul Samad and Ayush Badoni, rewarded with a spot in the North Zone squad. The latter has also been appointed the vice-captain, having scored almost 300 runs at an average of 42 in the Ranji Trophy this year.

On the other hand, Samad was outstanding in the tournament, amassing 748 runs at an average of 57.52 in 10 matches.

The leading wicket-taker of the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy, Auqib Nabi, wasn’t considered for selection, having just been included in the Indian squad for the upcoming Test series in Sri Lanka.

North Zone open their 2026-27 Duleep Trophy campaign against West Zone

North Zone will open their 2026-27 Duleep Trophy campaign with the quarterfinal clash against the West Zone at Bengaluru on August 23. The side missed out on direct qualification to the semifinal, thanks to their defeat to the South Zone in the semifinal last year.

After a massive first-innings lead helped North Zone defeat the East Zone in the quarterfinal, they conceded a similarly huge 175-run lead to the South Zone in the semifinal to be knocked out of the competition. Both matches ultimately ended in a draw and were decided on first-innings leads.

The 2026-27 Duleep Trophy will culminate with the summit clash to be played in Bengaluru from September 6 to 10.
