Healthcare should move towards a predictive, preventive and curative model, says Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during the signing of the MoU on Tuesday.

Healthcare should move towards a predictive, preventive and curative model, says Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during the signing of the MoU on Tuesday.

Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AstraZeneca India to establish an Integrated Genomic Solutions Centre in Amaravati, marking a major step towards precision cancer care. The initiative aims to create India’s first integrated precision oncology research and treatment ecosystem, enabling personalised cancer diagnosis and treatment through advanced genomic technologies.

The MoU was exchanged between the State government and AstraZeneca India in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The collaboration will also involve Reliance-backed Strand Life Sciences and Qure.ai.

The centre will provide advanced genomic testing and biomarker analysis for patients with lung and breast cancers. It will use next-generation sequencing (NGS), artificial intelligence (AI), and genomic technologies to facilitate early cancer detection and recommend personalised treatment based on a patient’s genetic profile.

As part of the project, AI-enabled X-ray systems will be installed in government hospitals to strengthen early detection of lung cancer, improving screening, diagnosis and timely treatment.

The initiative will be implemented under the Amaravati Quantum Valley programme, integrating genomic diagnostics, AI-driven imaging and clinical decision support to enhance cancer care across the State.

    Accessible healthcare for all: CM

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Naidu said the partnership aimed to make world-class healthcare accessible to every citizen. Stressing the need to expand quantum research in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, he said healthcare should move towards a predictive, preventive and curative model. He added that the State government’s Sanjeevani project, which seeks to create digital health profiles for all residents, would complement the initiative.

The Chief Minister expressed the confidence that Amaravati Quantum Valley would evolve into a leading research hub for cancer and other diseases, positioning Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of medical innovation and precision healthcare.

Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad, AstraZeneca India Managing Director A. Praveen Rao, representatives of Strand Life Sciences and Qure.ai, and senior Health Department officials were present.
