Fans bombard Brandon Aiyuk’s post after Commanders pick Stefon Diggs

Brandon Aiyuk’s dream of playing for the Washington Commanders in 2026 took a major hit after the franchise signed Stefon Diggs to a one-year contract worth up to $12 million. The 49ers wide receiver has become a laughing stock for fans after the four-time Pro Bowler’s deal was announced.

Fans rushed to Aiyuk’s latest Instagram post to take a dig at the 2020 first-round pick.

“Dude bought a house in North VA for no reason bruh🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣,” a fan said.

“Pack it up bro the commanders just got diggs 😂,” one fan commented.

“😂😂😂😂 got your first nfl bag and won’t see another one true sac city legend 🔥,” another fan added.

For months, Aiyuk had campaigned for a move to Washington on his social media handles. The WR was hoping for a reunion with his former Arizona State teammate, Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels. He reportedly bought a property in Washington as well.

Adam Peters addresses Brandon Aiyuk speculation

Last week, Washington Commanders general manager Adam Peters responded to questions about rumors linking the team to Brandon Aiyuk, without naming the wide receiver.

During a pre-training camp media session, Peters was asked whether a player’s online behavior factors into the team’s evaluation process.

“That’s a good roundabout question,” Peters said. “I mean, we look at everything. … I mean, it’s a great question, but we do look at everything, and, you know, we want to make sure it’s the right player to be in our locker room, in our bloodstream, and in our culture.”

Peters added that social media is only one part of the evaluation. The team relies more on film study and feedback from former teammates and organizations. Aiyuk is still on the San Francisco 49ers’ reserve/left squad list and has yet to apply for NFL reinstatement or report to the team.
