The 2026 edition of WWE SummerSlam is officially in the history books, and there is a lot to unpack. While the event was very fruitful for certain stars, not everyone on the card came out looking better.

In this listicle, we will look at four WWE Superstars whose momentum took the biggest hit at SummerSlam.

    #4. Dominik Mysterio

Dominik Mysterio lost to Danhausen in a “Human Monies on a Pole” match at SummerSlam. The face-painted star has taken WWE by storm since arriving, but his victory came at the cost of a promising young talent.

Since losing the Intercontinental Championship in March, Mysterio’s momentum has never truly recovered, and losing a comedy match against Danhausen has only made things worse. The young Mysterio’s cryptic reaction after the event is rather justified when you look at “Dirty” Dom’s booking in AAA. It is evident that the Stamford-based promotion views the young star in a much different light.

    #3. Trick Williams

Trick Williams dropped the United States Championship to Baron Corbin at The Biggest Party of the Summer. Mr. Whoop That had been on a roll since debuting on SmackDown earlier this year, but this loss has derailed a lot of his momentum.

Williams as the United States Champion was one of the top acts on the blue brand, and it seemed like his reign would only get better as time went on. However, he lost the title to Corbin, a decision that has not been received well by fans online.

Many believe it was unnecessary for a veteran like The Lone Wolf to end Trick’s championship reign. Williams will certainly look to bounce back in the coming weeks.

    #2. WWE star Jacob Fatu

Jacob Fatu looked like the biggest threat during his rivalry with Roman Reigns post-WrestleMania 42. The Samoan Werewolf felt dangerous and unpredictable, and he seemed to be thriving in that role. However, Fatu joined The Bloodline after losing in a Tribal Combat, and it hasn’t been fruitful for the former United States Champion.

Fatu teamed up with The Usos in a losing effort against LA Knight, Solo Sikoa, and Royce Keys. While one team had to lose, seeing Jacob Fatu on the losing side didn’t feel right, especially considering he was a world title contender not too long ago.

WWE needs to revive Fatu’s momentum following SummerSlam.

    #1. Finn Balor

Finn Balor seemed determined to find his way back to the world title at SummerSlam, the event that saw him become the inaugural Universal Champion back in 2016. The Prince was supposed to face Sami Zayn for the number one contendership to the Undisputed WWE Championship.

However, Nick Aldis made a surprise change to the match and turned it into a Fatal 4-Way with the inclusion of Gunther and the returning Kevin Owens. The Prizefighter went on to secure a title shot against CM Punk by pinning Zayn after a Stunner.

While Owens’ return and victory certainly gave fans a moment to cherish, Balor’s quest was seemingly forgotten. The Prince appeared to be gaining momentum after moving to SmackDown, but this may have disrupted it. It remains to be seen how the Irish star bounces back.
