AEW is only a few days away from staging the latest addition to its pay-per-view calendar, Redemption 2026, in Montreal, Canada. Before that, however, the Tony Khan-led promotion will set up shop at the Pinnacle in Nashville, TN, for this week’s pre-PPV go-home episode of Wednesday Night Dynamite.
The upcoming July 22 episode of Dynamite is set to feature many of the company’s top names, including newly crowned World Champion Kenny Omega, Continental Champion Jon Moxley, 2026 Men’s Owen Hart Cup winner Will Ospreay, former and current reigning TNT Champions Darby Allin and Kevin Knight, respectively, Women’s Tag Team Champions The Divine Dominion, Willow Nightingale, Women’s World Champion Thekla, and her faction, The Triangle of Madness, among other prominent faces from the All Elite Wrestling locker room.
Anticipation regarding Redemption 2026 is already quite high, especially with the promotion’s upcoming stadium show All In: London looming on the horizon. Recent TV ratings have proven that viewers have been enjoying Tony Khan’s booking lately, and the All Elite Wrestling head honcho will no doubt be eager to keep the streak going. With that in mind, let us consider three booking decisions TK might potentially make on AEW Dynamite tonight.
#1. Tensions erupt between Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay during their Trios match
Last Wednesday, the Young Bucks crashed Kenny Omega’s AEW World Championship celebration and gifted him with a brand new World Title belt. Will Ospreay then showed up to speak to The Cleaner, voicing his excitement over their upcoming showdown at All In: London. Their conversation was interrupted, however, by Kevin Knight, who demanded that Kenny offer him the World Title match that MJF had promised him in return for being on his team at Forbidden Door 2026.
Omega agreed to face The Jet at Redemption 2026, and insisted that the up-and-comer was more than capable of getting the job done without relying on his new associates from The Don Callis Family. Instead of taking his advice, though, Knight attacked Kenny with a cheap shot, although Darby Allin subsequently ambushed him. The TNT Champion’s DCF allies then arrived to make the save for him, and seemed poised to dish out a beatdown on Omega and Ospreay, until the Death Riders showed up to chase them away.
This Wednesday on AEW Dynamite, The Aerial Assassin and The Cleaner will team up with the leader of the Death Riders, Jon Moxley, to take on The Callis Family’s Brian Cage, Jake Doyle and Hechicero in Trios action. Omega, Ospreay and Mox will, in all likelihood, win the bout in question. However, tensions could erupt between The Best Bout Machine and The Commonwealth Kingpin over the latter’s newfound aggression and violent streak, causing issues in their teamwork, especially with Moxley in the mix.
There could even be a scuffle between Omega and Ospreay post-match stemming from the latter’s increasingly hostile conduct, with The One True King acting as an unexpected peacemaker, urging The Sky King to wait till AEW All In 2026. This could also lead to Kevin Knight pulling off a sneaky ambush on Kenny to gather momentum ahead of Redemption.
#2. Kevin Knight loses his AEW TNT Title to Darby Allin
At Double or Nothing 2026, Darby Allin lost the AEW World Championship back to MJF in a Title vs. Hair match. After the bout, Big Hebrew was celebrating his victory on top of his stretchered opponent, until Kevin Knight forced him to retreat. In a shocking twist, however, The Jet delivered a UFO splash on the face-painted fan-favorite atop the stretcher, turning heel in the process.
Knight later explained that he had attacked Allin because the latter had failed to keep his word and beat MJF in New York. The Daredevil returned at AEW Dynamite: Summer Blockbuster to get even with the budding star, smashing him with his skateboard. Darby focused on seeking revenge against The Jet, battling him and tricking him with an explosive booby-trap during Team DCMJF vs. Team Briscoe at Forbidden Door 2026. Intent on humbling the “Too Fly” high-flyer, Allin demanded a shot at his TNT Championship after the PPV.
Kevin Knight initially refused to grant Darby a title match, prompting the latter to keep attacking him in the arena and backstage. Last Wednesday, Allin revealed that he would get his hands on The Jet for the TNT Championship on the following Dynamite. Knight is set to challenge Kenny Omega for the AEW World Title at Redemption 2026. It should be noted, however, that he does not need to be holding the TNT Title at the PPV to do so.
Tony Khan could thus book Darby Allin to dethrone Kevin Knight this week on AEW Dynamite. A loss tonight would further fuel The Jet’s desire to beat Omega for the World Title. It would also complicate matters for Knight vis-a-vis his place in The Don Callis Family, as the Invisible Hand could start neglecting and mistreating the former JetSpeed member as soon as he loses the gold.
#3. Willow Nightingale and Thekla’s face-to-face devolves into a chaotic brawl involving Mercedes Mone
Ahead of Double or Nothing 2026, Willow Nightingale revealed that she would have to withdraw from the Women’s Owen Hart Cup due to a shoulder injury. After weeks of rehab and recovery, the former TBS Champion returned on Dynamite: Beach Break as an entrant in the Casino Gauntlet Match that was taking place at the show. The beloved babyface ended up winning the bout, and in the process earned herself a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship at Redemption 2026 against Thekla.
The Toxic Spider had been watching the Casino Gauntlet Match from commentary, and immediately after Willow won, she cut the latter down with a spear. She was poised to do more damage to her Redemption challenger, but was distracted by The Divine Dominion attacking her teammates, The Sisters of Sin, on the entrance ramp. This left the Austrian vulnerable, and she was blindsided by the winner of this year’s Women’s Owen Hart Tournament, Mercedes Mone.
Despite this turn of events, Thekla has remained confident about retaining her strap against Nightingale. Alongside Skye Blue and Julia Hart, The Idol Killer captured the Artist of Stardom Title this past Saturday, and afterwards sent another warning to both The Babe with The Power and The CEO. This Wednesday on AEW Dynamite, the Triangle of Madness leader will come face to face with Willow, and their confrontation is very likely to turn physical, considering their immediate history.
Both Thekla and Nightingale could in turn get jumped by Mercedes Mone, with The Divine Dominion by her side. This could prompt The Sisters of Sin to also jump into the fray, as they are booked for a No DQ AEW Women’s World Tag Title bout against Megan Bayne and Lena Kross on the show. The culmination of all this could be a massive and chaotic brawl that leads into the aforementioned tag team contest.
