Savannah Guthrie posted a new video on Monday, July 27, 2026, addressing the people responsible for her mother Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, pleading, “Help us find her, tell us where to look for her,” according to the BBC’s report from the same day. Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen January 31 near Tucson, Arizona, and nearly six months later no arrests have been made, and no motive has been shared publicly.

Commentator Zack Peter reacted to the video on X (formerly Twitter) the same day, referring to the case as “day 176” and suggesting the family and investigators should “start switching strategies,” saying appeals to the abductor’s humanity were unlikely to produce results at this stage.

Day 176: Savannah Guthrie has a new message regarding her missing mother Nancy Guthrie

Peter went so far as to nickname the case “Nancy B’nai Ramsey,” comparing it to another long-unsolved mystery, and floated that public frustration might need to be redirected toward Pima County Sheriff investigators instead. His comments came alongside renewed reporting on the case’s unresolved ransom notes and lack of new leads.

    Savannah Guthrie’s latest plea

In her video, Savannah Guthrie said her family remains in “agony” and described living in “a nightmare that will not end,” according to Forbes’ July 27, 2026 report. Urging them to “make the right choice,” Savannah Guthrie said to the alleged kidnappers,

“For all of us, no matter where we’ve been and what we’ve done, I believe there is always a way home”

Savannah Guthrie added that her family has “done our part” in the search and will “never stop looking for her,” while acknowledging the ongoing emotional toll, saying they will “always ache for her and feel that hole in our hearts.”

The BBC reported that Savannah Guthrie has made similar public pleas multiple times since her mother’s disappearance, with this update offering no new information about Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts.

Zack Peter, reacting to the video on X (formerly Twitter), said the repeated pattern of appeals had produced no results after 175 days and argued it might be time to consider a different public approach, though he acknowledged uncertainty about what that would look like, saying he felt “horrible saying that.”

The investigation and conflicting ransom note reports

Investigators believe Nancy Guthrie was abducted from her home after being dropped off by relatives on the evening of January 31, 2026, and she failed to appear the next morning at a friend’s house for a virtual church service, according to the BBC.

Doorbell camera footage showed a masked, armed individual covering the camera before her disappearance, and the BBC noted Nancy Guthrie requires daily medication, raising concern about her well-being the longer she remains missing.

Reporting on the case’s ransom notes has been inconsistent: the BBC reported two notes were considered credible by investigators, one demanding millions in Bitcoin and a later one claiming she had died and was “buried with nature,” while

Forbes reported that on June 30, 2026, Reuters cited an FBI official stating none of the ransom notes were believed to be genuine. Forbes noted that despite forensic evidence, surveillance footage, thousands of leads, and even the arrest of a person of interest, no suspect has been identified as of its July 27, 2026 report.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has said its investigation “remains active and ongoing,” per the BBC, though it has not commented directly on the contents of any notes.
