    Webinar on anaemia to be held on July 26

    The Hindu will conduct a free health webinar on ‘Anaemia: Understanding Causes and Effects’ on Sunday (July 26, 2026). The webinar will be held from 11.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

    Anaemia remains one of the most common public health concerns, affecting children, adolescents, women, and older adults. While iron deficiency is the best-known cause, anaemia can also result from deficiencies of other nutrients, inherited blood disorders, chronic diseases, infections, and other underlying health conditions.

    The discussion will explore the different types and causes of anaemia, its symptoms, diagnosis and treatment, the consequences of delayed detection, and the importance of timely screening. Experts will also discuss nutritional interventions, those most at risk, when anaemia may indicate a more serious underlying condition, and practical strategies for prevention and management while addressing common myths and misconceptions.

    Expert panellists include Ramya Uppuluri, Consultant Paediatric Haematologist, Apollo Hospitals, who will discuss anaemia in children, inherited blood disorders, and the importance of early diagnosis and appropriate management.

    Divya M., Consultant Hematologist and BMT Physician, Rela Hospital, will speak about the different causes of anaemia, diagnostic approaches, treatment options, and the role of nutritional deficiencies and chronic illnesses in the condition.

    Subham Bhattacharya, Consultant, Hematology, CK Birla Hospitals, will discuss identifying those at risk, recognising symptoms that warrant medical attention, and strategies for prevention, timely screening, and long-term management.

    The session will be moderated by Athira Elssa Johnson, Senior Reporter, The Hindu.
