    UPI hits record Rs 29.9 lakh crore in July, 23.66 billion transactions

    UPI transactions reached a new high of Rs 29.9 lakh crore in July as revealed by the report from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

    UPI transactions achieved a new peak in May 2026.

    UPI transactions reached 23.66 billion in volume during July which was higher than May’s volume of 23.2 billion and June’s volume of 22.72 billion.

    According to the statistics shared on Saturday, the value of UPI transactions in July stood at Rs 29.88 lakh crore whereas the value of transactions in July last year stood at Rs 25.08 lakh crore.

    UPI transactions in June had a volume of 19.46 billion.

    PayNearby MD and CEO Anand Kumar Bajaj said, “UPI continues to strengthen the foundation of India’s digital payments ecosystem. In July 2026, it processed 23.66 billion transactions worth Rs 29.88 lakh crore, reaffirming its role as the preferred mode of payment for millions of Indians.”UPI has already started operations in almost ten nations such as UAE, Singapore, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, France, Mauritius, and Qatar, thereby making India a front-runner in the global digital payments arena.

    Positive global acceptance of UPI has resulted in increased remittance transfers, inclusion of more people in the financial system, and establishing India’s stronghold in the worldwide fintech environment.

    NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India), which has been set up by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as well as the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA), is the apex body for running retail payment and settlement systems in India.

    NPCI runs UPI that facilitates the process of instant funds transfer between people and merchants.
