Unseen footage of Kevin Owens’ electric SummerSlam return

WWE shared unseen footage of Kevin Owens’ return at SummerSlam on social media today. The Prizefighter missed over a year of action due to a broken neck but made his surprise return during Night 2 of the PLE.

Sami Zayn and Finn Balor were scheduled to compete to determine the number one contender for the Undisputed WWE Championship. However, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis interrupted and announced that both Kevin Owens and Gunther were added to the match.

Kevin Owens emerged victorious after hitting Sami Zayn with a Stunner to become the number one contender and has earned a title match against CM Punk. The promotion took to social media today to share backstage footage of Owens getting ready to make his entrance. You can check it out in the post below.

CM Punk defeated Cody Rhodes during Night 1 of SummerSlam to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship. Randy Orton showed up during the match and attacked The American Nightmare while the referee was taken out. Gunther was upset with Owens being added to the number one contender’s match and called him a “sweaty fat jerk” following the loss.

Kevin Owens comments on WWE fan reaction to his return

Kevin Owens shared his thoughts on his return at SummerSlam and noted that he finally understood a comment made by Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Speaking on the SummerSlam Post-Show, Owens noted that Austin told him that he couldn’t really hear the crowd at WWE WrestleMania 38, and he finally understood why he said that. Owens noted that it was difficult to hear at U.S. Bank Stadium, but he could tell that the fans were excited.

“It’s hard when you are in that moment to even hear the reaction because the music is playing. You are emotional. The way the sound travels in stadiums is different than arenas. and in that moment, I could see people seem to be very happy but I remember thinking this is what Stone Cold meant at WrestleMania 38 when we spoke about the match we had several weeks later, when he was telling me I could not hear the crowd, I did not know if the crowd was happy to see me. I’m like, you are a psychopath. Now, and get it. I see what he meant,” he said.
