There is a major update on a popular WWE Hall of Famer possibly competing in a match in AEW. A top veteran believes it is unlikely to happen given his current health.

Tomorrow night at Double or Nothing, Mick Foley will be making his debut for the Jacksonville-based promotion as a host of their Buy-In pre-show alongside Renee Paquette. Tony Khan has confirmed that this is only the first of his appearances, which may be a hint at the legend’s involvement in their other shows across the year, but his role, along with his contract situation, is unclear.

During a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer speculated regarding Foley’s role. He brought up how, in the past, MJF had wanted to work a program with him. Meltzer believes that they could still pull off an angle between them, but only that at most, as the legend is no longer in the best of conditions, physically.

“I don’t know exactly the full role. MJF has always wanted to work with him. I don’t know that he can do a match. He may try… He would love to, I just don’t know if it’s possible. I mean for MJF, working an angle with Mick Foley… The angle itself, with the promos, it could be incredible. As far as can he do a match? I don’t know, I mean, I know when he was training for a comeback like a year ago, I just heard that he was getting hurt pretty bad doing very minor things, so it didn’t seem like a good idea.” [H/T WrestlingInc.]

MJF’s reaction to Mick Foley appearing at AEW Double or Nothing

Mick Foley‘s AEW debut announcement came as a surprise to many, as before this, there weren’t any teases regarding this. Many individuals simply speculated about this due to Foley announcing that he was no longer renewing his WWE Legends contract.

MJF was one of those who reacted to the announcement, and he only had one word to say. It is unclear, however, if this was a show of frustration on his part or him sarcastically showing that he did not care.

    “….great.”

Fans should stay tuned for Mick Foley’s AEW debut at Double or Nothing, as this only looks like the first of many. The pay-per-view also has a massive match card, with multiple matches possibly being show stealers.
