Taylor Townsend has silently established her supremacy in the women’s doubles category in the current generation. The 30-year-old, who boasts three women’s doubles Grand Slam titles, has been rapidly gaining popularity in the last three years with her stellar performances.

She bagged her first major at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, added a second to her collection at the 2025 Australian Open and revelled in her third at last month’s French Open. All of her memorable wins came with Katerina Siniakova standing by her side.

As the second-ranked women’s doubles star continues to climb the ladder of success, she earned special praise from Blakely Neiman Thornton. The sports influencer called her a “breath of fresh air” for tennis and praised her to act as a “pillar” in the group of black players.

“Taylor Townsend is my favourite athlete on the internet. Brings genuine smile on my face. Every time I see her on screen and as a tennis fan for over 30 years I am here and clear to say that she is a breath of fresh air for the sport. The three-time major winner is on track to be one of the greatest doubles players of her generation,” Thornton said in his Instagram video.

“But beyond all that she just seems like a good time and to drill it down a further she is s ball of unbashed, unapologetic black joy in an environment that does not celebrate such things. Never afraid to take up space, be silly and have fun doing it. Seemingly a social pillar in a group of black players creating community on the tour. Not just surviving, thriving in a way that warms the homesexual heart,” he concluded.

The American-Czech pair recently competed at Wimbledon and emerged as one of the top candidates to clinch the title. In the quarter-finals encounter, Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova squared off against Kristina Mladenovic and Guo Hanyu. They put up a resilient fight but suffered a 7-6(8), 7-5 defeat and crashed out of the tournament.

Naomi Osaka and Katerina Siniakova cheer for Taylor Townsend in Wimbledon singles clash

During last month’s Taylor Townsend’s Wimbledon singles campaign opener against defending champion Iga Swiatek, Naomi Osaka and Katerina Siniakova arrived at the All England Club to support their special friend.

Osaka and Siniakova cheered for the American who gave Swiatek a run for her money in the three-set thriller. She came close to shattering the Pole’s title defence but suffered a 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 defeat on Centre Court. It is quite common for athletes to turn up in the players’ box.

However, it was a surprise to see Osaka and Siniakova make an appearance so early in the tournament, especially when they are competing in their respective campaigns.
