The new CardVault by Tom Brady store in Palo Alto, California, was burglarized early Saturday morning, Aug. 22.

Police said the suspects broke a window and smashed several display cases inside the store on El Camino Real.

They stole 60 trading cards worth more than $12,000.

The burglary happened just over a week after the store had its grand opening on Aug. 15.

The Palo Alto store is the 19th CardVault location and the third one in California.

Similarly, Brady’s SoHo store in New York City (at 244 Lafayette Street) was also hit shortly after its opening on Oct. 20, 2025. A male suspect attempted to purchase high-end items, but his credit card was declined. He then manually entered prompts on the payment terminal without the employee noticing, tricking the machine/staff into thinking the transaction had gone through before walking out.

Items stolen were rare collectible baseball cards and Pokémon cards. The estimated loss was $9,710.

Tom Brady’s journey with CardVault started 2 years after the 7-time Super Bowl champion’s retirement

Tom Brady officially joined CardVault in February 2025. He bought a 50% stake in the business and joined co-founders Ed Kane, Randy Greenstein, Chris Costa, Tim Bonito and Scott Heigelmann.

After Brady joined, the company was renamed CardVault by Brady.

In August, CardVault by Tom Brady announced a big investment from a group of well-known investors. The company plans to use the money to open more stores. It wants to have more than 100 locations across the U.S. It also wants to grow its online business and automated retail operations.

The investor group includes several big names.

From the U.S. sports world, the group includes New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge, Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid and UFC President and CEO Dana White.

The group also includes The Kraft Group, owners of the New England Patriots; Fenway Sports Group principal owner John Henry; Boston Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck; and Boston Globe Media CEO Linda Henry.
