The GV90 will be available with Rolls-Royce-like coach doors as Genesis upscales into higher-end segments. With an expected debut soon, an uncovered model was found abandoned in a field alongside other Lucid, Hyundai, and Audi vehicles.

When will the Genesis GV90 with coach doors debut?

It’s been over two years since Genesis first unveiled the Neolun concept, a full-size “ultra-luxe” SUV that will go on sale as GV90.

It’s the “epitome of timeless design and sophisticated craftsmanship,” according to Luc Donckerwolke, Genesis’ head creative officer.

The reductive design is inspired by Korea’s iconic moon-shaped porcelain jars, with no unnecessary detailing, resulting in a clean, smooth look.

While the outside is stunning, the interior is just as impressive. When Genesis revealed the Neolun Concept at the 2024 NY Auto Show, it was the coach doors that caught most people’s attention. While we weren’t sure if the coach doors would make it to the production model, several prototypes have been caught testing with them.

At least two versions have been spotted being tested in the US, Europe, and South Korea: a coach door model and a standard variant with traditional doors.

Hyundai even filed a few patent applications with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) detailing how the latching system works.

With the GV90 set to launch in the second half of 2026, we’ve seen plenty of camouflaged prototypes, but for the first time, an uncovered model was found abandoned in a field alongside a few other vehicles you might recognize, like the Lucid Air.

The images were posted by Instagram user @urbexisdecaying, showing several uncovered Genesis GV90 prototypes abandoned in what appears to be a field or lot.

Last month, we got a look at the interior, which will feature a new high-tech infotainment system. The setup, “Connect W,” is based on Hyundai’s Pleo Connect and offers a smartphone-like UI, similar to what’s found in Tesla models.

Genesis has yet to say, but the massive central screen is expected to be Hyundai Mobis’ rolling screen that stretches up to about 27″.

The latest spy shots of the GV90 in California, courtesy of TheKoreanCarBlog, reveal the full-size electric SUV uncovered, and it looks like a near-replica of the Neolun Concept.

The interior appears to be essentially the same as the Concept, with premium elements such as “Purple Silk” leather trim, “Royal Indigo” cashmere elements, and a jewel-like physical button for climate control and other functions.

While Genesis has yet to reveal any details, such as battery specs or prices, the GV90 is rumored to be among the first vehicles to use Hyundai’s new eM platform.

Hyundai previously said the new EV platform provides a 50% improvement in range compared to its current E-GMP models, like the IONIQ 5.

According to local reports, the Genesis GV90 coach door model could cost upwards of 300,000 million won ($200,000). In the US, the standard GV90 is expected to start at about $100,000. The coach door model could cost up to $200,000.
