    That was the final straw

An ex-WWE star recently spoke about his decision to leave the company, pinpointing the exact moment he felt sure he was not going to grow.

Cash Wheeler is considered to be one of the standout names in AEW, along with his tag team partner Dax Harwood. The two were previously in WWE, under the names Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson respectively. However, they did not have as much success as they would have liked in the Stamford-based promotion.

In a recent appearance on LNG Productions, Cash Wheeler explained that when he and Harwood were drafted to SmackDown while Randy Orton was drafted to RAW, it was clear that the duo would not be pushed much. He said:

“I’m sure I’ve said on record before, but if not, here we go. But I think that was the final straw for us when we knew we wanted to ask for our release, was [when they] drafted us to SmackDown and Randy to Raw at that point. I think he had just lost to Kofi, or something along those lines, but we still thought we were gonna get a chance to do stuff together. And we knew if they killed that, that they didn’t really have any expectations or plans for us. And when they drafted us to separate shows, we were like, alright yeah, I think that the writing’s on the wall here, as far as what our ceiling is ever gonna be.”

Cash Wheeler regrets not working more with Randy Orton in WWE

According to Cash Wheeler, not getting to take his storyline with Randy Orton alongside Dax Harwood was regrettable.

Adding to his previous comments in the same interview, Wheeler stated:

“I do hate that we didn’t get to do more with Randy, because even today he’s still such a good friend and we still stay in contact. He’s such a funny guy. I wish that we could have done more.”

It remains to be seen if Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood will return to WWE some time in the future.
