A former World Champion made their in-ring return to AEW for the first time since August 2025.

The star in the limelight here is Zack Sabre Jr., a two-time IWGP World Heavyweight Champion who’s been in the wrestling business for over two decades and is currently signed with New Japan Pro Wrestling. The Technical Wizard, as he is often called, has earned a reputation as one of the best pound-for-pound wrestlers in the industry today. Due to NJPW’s working relationship with All Elite Wrestling, Zack has appeared on AEW programming on occasion. His most recent in-ring performance in All Elite Wrestling came at Forbidden Door 2025, where he defeated Nigel McGuinness in a wrestling clinic.

At this year’s Forbidden Door, Zack will face Kenny Omega in a highly anticipated match. The duo even confronted each other on the latest episode of Dynamite. While many thought his match with the Cleaner would count as his AEW return, it was announced earlier today that the Technical Wizard will face Adam Priest on the upcoming Collision. Because the show has already been taped, Zack has completed his return, and we will be able to see it this Saturday.

Kenny Omega says Zack Sabre Jr. is “key” to winning the AEW World Championship

For those who may not have noticed, Kenny Omega appears to be on a more relaxed schedule in AEW. This is due to his past health issues and the need to maintain balance and quality of life. That said, the Best Bout Machine was in action on the previous week’s edition of Collision, where he made easy work of Bad Dude Tito.

Following the match, the Cleaner spoke about his match with Zack Sabre Jr. at Forbidden Door 2026. Omega stated that this match is important because it will take him to the next level, after which he will go right back to MJF, the man he challenged for the World Title at Dynasty earlier this year.

“Zack, you are that key. You are my answer. You are what’s gonna take me to the next level. So Zack, I’ll see you at Forbidden Door. MJF, it’s only a matter of time,” he said.

It will be interesting to see whether Omega will defeat Saber Jr. in what is already being touted as a highly physical wrestling feast at Forbidden Door 2026.
