Ross Chastain finds the most creative way to praise Joey Logano in NASCAR’s driver compliment chain

Ross Chastain delivered one of the more memorable lines for Joey Logano in a recent NASCAR clip posted on social media. Released on May 14, 2026, the video featured a chain where drivers were asked to compliment one another.

The clip included several Cup Series names passing compliments down the line. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. started it off with Austin Cindric, followed by Ty Dillon, Zane Smith, William Byron, Bubba Wallace, Tyler Reddick, Shane van Gisbergen, and Michael McDowell in a sequence designed to highlight camaraderie.

When Chastain’s turn came to speak about Logano, he said:

“Joey. Hey. You ever going to stop beating us?”

It landed as both a compliment and a jab, reflecting their recent on-track history. The two drivers have been involved in multiple incidents over the past year, often racing each other aggressively. The comments also holds true for Joey Logano, who has won three titles in the last seven years.

Logano, for his part, kept things lighter when asked to compliment Zane Smith:

“Zane has great hair and is much cooler than I am.”

Fans pointed at Logano’s own bald look in the 2026 NASCAR season. Earlier in the clip, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. said of Austin Cindric:

“He’s a fellow Daytona 500 champion, so we’re in the same club.”

Zane Smith praised rookie Connor Zilisch:

“Probably one of the best up-and-coming talents this sport has ever seen.”

And Michael McDowell described Kyle Busch as:

    “Super generous and helpful.”

The clip comes as these Cup Series drivers prepare to compete in the non-points NASCAR All-Star Race at Dover Motor Speedway this weekend.

The Ross Chastain-Joey Logano dynamic has been one of the more active rivalries in 2025. It picked up notably during the NASCAR Chicago Street Course race, where Chastain spun Logano late, prompting a heated pit road exchange.

That tension carried into other races. At Dover, the two ran close and made contact multiple times. Both drivers operate aggressively and typically do not back down, leading to repeated flashpoints.

The frustration peaked at Martinsville. After being caught in an incident triggered by Ross Chastain, Logano said:

“Ross just sticking it in a tight spot… He just races like a jacka*s every week, and I keep paying the price.”

Despite that, the tone shifted later in the season. Ahead of Indianapolis, Chastain offered a more measured view:

“Joey and I, we’re so similar, and I like it… Occasionally, that comes to a physical contact on the track… We had a good time… good conversation and good laughs.”

There was still tension at the Charlotte Roval during the NASCAR playoff cutoff battle, where both were fighting for the final postseason spot, with Logano advancing. In 2026, neither driver has consistently dominated, but the edge remains whenever they share track position.
