Randy Orton is set to compete in a marquee match at an upcoming WWE show. The Viper returned at SummerSlam 2026 after going on hiatus following his loss at WrestleMania 42.

Cody Rhodes defeated Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42 earlier this year to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship. CM Punk has since captured the title and defended it against Rhodes at SummerSlam earlier this month. Orton interfered in the match and hit Rhodes with an RKO while the referee was distracted, allowing Punk to retain the title.

There will be a live event tomorrow night in Manchester, New Hampshire, ahead of this Friday’s SmackDown in Boston. Rhodes and Orton are scheduled to have a WrestleMania 42 rematch at the event at SNHU Arena.

Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes had a confrontation this past Friday night on SmackDown. Orton claimed that the best version of himself would not be able to capture his 15th major title, but the worst version of himself could. Rhodes responded that he didn’t have to be a “good guy” anymore now that he was no longer the champion and was willing to bring out the worst in himself as well.

Orton brutally attacked Rhodes following his loss at WrestleMania 42 and punted the former champion in the head.

WWE star Cody Rhodes reveals the biggest regret of his life

WWE SmackDown star Cody Rhodes recently shared his honest feelings about his neck tattoo.

Speaking on the What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, Rhodes noted that he appreciated the artwork but admitted that his neck tattoo was the biggest regret of his life. The former AEW star shared that he was not trying to get the tattoo removed despite regretting it.

“I stand by the fact that I think the work is great and the artist is great, but I also will reveal, as I think I’ve revealed on this pod before- the neck tattoo, I would widely consider the greatest regret of my life. I’ll live with it. I ain’t trying to get it removed. No, we’re gonna rock this till the very end,” he said.

Drew McIntyre doesn’t like Cody Rhodes’ neck tattoo one bit. 😂 #WWE #Smackdown

It will be interesting to see what WWE has planned for the rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton in the weeks ahead on SmackDown.
