    Rajat Patidar picks his all-time IPL XI after 2026 edition; leaves out Rohit Sharma

    Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar picked his all-time IPL XI after the 2026 season. He led Bengaluru to their second IPL trophy, beating the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 2026 final.

    Rajat Patidar began with two RCB legends as his openers: Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli. Gayle scored 4489 runs from 122 innings as an opener in the league, smashing six hundreds and 28 fifties. On the other hand, Kohli has 5684 runs as an opener from 144 innings with nine hundreds and 44 fifties.

    At number three, he picked Mumbai Indians (MI) star Suryakumar Yadav, followed by IPL legends Suresh Raina and AB de Villiers at four and five, respectively. For lower-order power, he went with all-rounder Hardik Pandya at six and veteran MS Dhoni at seven.

    Coming down to the bowlers, Rajat Patidar picked Dale Steyn and Jasprit Bumrah as his two pacers, along with Yuzvendra Chahal and Sunil Narine as the two spinners, wrapping up the team. Surprisingly, there was no place for five-time IPL-winning captain Rohit Sharma in this XI.

    Rajat Patidar became only the third captain to win back-to-back IPL titles

    With the victory in the 2026 season, Rajat Patidar became only the third captain to win back-to-back IPL titles. He created history by leading RCB to their first-ever IPL title in 2025 and then successfully defended the trophy in the previous season.

    Patidar joined an elite list with MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, the two other captains to have achieved this feat. Dhoni led the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to back-to-back IPL titles in 2010 and 2011, beating MI and RCB in the finals, respectively.

    Rohit, whom Patidar left out of his team, was the second captain to do so, leading MI to back-to-back victories in 2019 and 2020, beating CSK and Delhi Capitals (DC) in the finals, respectively. Therefore, RCB also became only the third team to win consecutive IPL trophies, along with CSK and MI.
