On Thursday, Polissya Zhytomyr face FC Copenhagen in the first leg of their 2026-27 UEFA Conference League second-round qualifying tie. Due to the ongoing situation in Ukraine, the match will be played at the Košická futbalová aréna in Slovakia rather than at Polissya’s more modest Tsentralnyi Stadion.

Polissya have taken to life in the top flight like a duck to water, recording top-five finishes in every season since earning promotion to the Ukrainian Premier League for the 2023-24 campaign.

Last season was their best yet, as they finished third with 59 points from 30 matches to secure a third consecutive appearance in the Conference League qualifiers.

The Ukrainian outfit took on FC Santa Coloma at this stage of the tournament last season, losing the first-leg clash 2-1 before running out 4-1 winners in the second.

FC Copenhagen have been the dominant force in modern Danish football, winning 16 of the 36 Danish SuperLiga titles contested since the competition’s inception in 1991.

Having completed the domestic double in the 2024-25 campaign, expectations were understandably high in the Danish capital last season. However, what followed was nothing short of a nightmare, as Copenhagen failed to reach the Championship Round for the first time in the club’s history.

The appointment of former Mainz boss Bo Svensson in March, however, proved to be just the spark Byens Hold needed, as Copenhagen won eight of their remaining nine league matches, including a crucial 3-1 victory over rivals Brøndby to secure a place in the Conference League second qualifying round.

Polissya Zhytomyr vs FC Copenhagen Head-to-Head and Key Numbers

    • Polissya and Copenhagen will face off for the first time on Thursday.
    • Copenhagen are undefeated in all six of their competitive encounters against Ukrainian opponents, winning two of those games and drawing the remaining four.
    • Polissya had a mixed bag of results during preseason, recording four wins, three losses and a draw in their eight friendlies.
    • Copenhagen have collected four wins and a draw from their last five games on the road.

Polissya Zhytomyr vs FC Copenhagen Prediction

Polissya head into the midweek clash as underdogs, with the lack of a true home advantage further stacking the odds against the Ukrainian side.

Byens Hold, meanwhile, appear to have rediscovered their rhythm in recent months, a trend reflected in their impressive pre-season campaign, during which they went unbeaten in four matches.

We are backing the Danish giants to come out on top on Thursday.

Prediction: Polissya Zhytomyr 1-2 FC Copenhagen
