Harry Kane’s England are set to take on Lionel Messi’s Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-finals on Wednesday. Pat McAfee talked about a fan-made video dedicated to Harry Kane ahead of the game on Wednesday’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show.”
McAfee shared his feelings about the game as he addressed the weight of expectations on Kane and Co.
Thanks for the submission!
“I know you’ve been calling for it to come home for however long you’ve been alive because the boys have not won over there. I watched one of the greatest Motivational videos I’ve seen in some time about England basically just telling Harry Kane. Hey, it’s on you.

For England, the stakes could not be higher, as they fight to book their first ticket to a World Cup Final since their only World Cup win on home soil in 1966. After finishing first in the group stage, England beat DR Congo in the Round of 32, Mexico in the Round of 16, and Erling Haaland’s Norway in the quarterfinals to make it to the semi-finals.
Defending champions, Argentina, stand between Kane and his dream of leading his nation to glory. If England beats Messi and Co. on Wednesday, they’ll set up the World Cup Final with Spain on Sunday.
Pat McAfee reacts to controversial VAR call in Argentina’s win over Switzerland
Argentina’s World Cup quarterfinal victory over Switzerland featured one of the tournament’s most debated VAR decisions. It left former NFL star Pat McAfee in disbelief.
Referee João Pinheiro initially booked Leandro Paredes for a challenge on Breel Embolo. After a VAR review, however, the decision was overturned. Paredes’ yellow card was canceled, and Embolo was shown a second yellow for simulation, bringing down Switzerland to 10 men.
McAfee shared a series of reactions on X after the incident.
“VAR IS FOCKING CRAAAAAAZY,” McAfee tweeted.
“What the f***,” he posted a few minutes later.
“Man… that’s TOUGH,” McAfee added.
Despite playing with a man advantage, Argentina struggled to break down the Swiss defense until Julián Álvarez curled home the winner in the 112th minute. They scored another in stoppage time of extra time to seal a 3-1 win.
England’s World Cup quarterfinal win over Norway featured another controversial VAR moment when Norway had a goal ruled out after officials ruled that Erling Haaland fouled Elliott Anderson before the corner.
“VAR is rather wild,” McAfee tweeted.
England went on to beat Norway 2-1 to set up the clash with Lionel Messi’s men in the semifinals.
