Former Watford striker Troy Deeney has mocked Norway’s iconic “Viking Row” celebration after England defeated the Scandinavians to secure their passage into the 2026 FIFA World Cup semifinals on Saturday (July 12).
The Three Lions came from behind to secure a vital 2-1 extra-time victory over Norway in Miami, with Jude Bellingham scoring twice to send Thomas Tuchel’s side into the last four.
Thanks for the submission!
That result meant that Erling Haaland and his teammates didn’t get a chance to perform their iconic “Viking Row” celebration with their supporters, which has been one of the standout moments in the 2026 FIFA World Cup so far.
Speaking after the game, Troy Deeney quickly seized the moment to make a mockery of the Scandinavian side.
“By the way, I’ve had enough of this,” he said in a video posted by CBS Sports Golazo on Instagram.
“I’ve had enough of this. Let’s send them parking, get this off. Sitting by the floor, man, everyone goes, ah it’s good fun. It’s time for them to go. It’s job done. Thank you very much.
“Norway, row your boat, off you pop. Let’s deal with real stuff now,” the former Watford striker added.
Despite their elimination at the hands of England, it’s fair to say that Norway had a decent spell in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Scandinavians won four of their six games on their way to the quarterfinals, scoring 13 goals and conceding 11. Their biggest moment in the competition came in the Round of 16 when they defeated Brazil 2-1.
England to face Argentina in 2026 FIFA World Cup semifinals
Shortly after England triumphed over Norway, Argentina also managed to see off a resilient Switzerland side with a 3-1 win. The two sides will now go head-to-head in the semifinals at the Atlanta Stadium on Wednesday, July 15.
It promises to be a huge encounter between the two sides. All eyes will be on the likes of Lionel Messi, Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and Lisandro Martinez who have all performed at incredible levels in the competition so far.
The last time both nations faced each other in the World Cup in 2002, the Three Lions earned a 1-0 win, with David Beckham scoring the only goal of the game from the penalty spot. It remains to be seen what the outcome will be this time, with the stakes even higher.
