Aaron Rodgers is running it back with the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Rodgers and the Steelers have now reached an agreement on a one-year deal. It means that the four-time MVP will be reuniting with the new coach, Mike McCarthy, for the upcoming campaign.
On Sunday, Schefter drew parallels between the Rodgers-McCarthy partnership and the Marv Levy-Jim Kelly Hall of Fame duo.
Thanks for the submission!
“Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy have won 107 games together, including the playoffs, the 9th most by any head coach-starting QB duo in the Super Bowl Era and one shy of Marv-Levy-Jim Kelly in 8th.” Schefter wrote on X.

Rodgers and McCarthy spent 13 seasons together with the Green Bay Packers. McCarthy was instrumental in Rodgers rise to becoming one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks. The superstar signal-caller won a Super Bowl, Super Bowl MVP, two MVP Awards and was a four-time Pro Bowler while McCarthy was coaching the Packers.
Marv Levy and Jim Kelly were the primary architects of the Buffalo Bills’ (almost) dynasty of the early 1990s. The duo guided the Bills to four consecutive Super Bowl appearances between 1990 and 1993. Levy was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001, while Kelly was enshrined in 2002.
What’s next for Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy?
Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy achieved a lot during their time with the Green Bay Packers. However, their tenure did not end well.
According to Sports Illustrated, the duo’s relationship worsened due to disagreements over play-calling and schematic differences. McCarthy was shown the door during the 2018 regular season.
It’s been almost a decade since the duo last worked together, and a lot has happened since then. McCarthy coached the Dallas Cowboys for five seasons and left at the end of the 2024 season. Rodgers has endured mixed spells with the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers since leaving the Green Bay Packers. He’s now gearing up for Year 2 in Pittsburgh.
Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy proved that they could create magic while on the same page. Steelers’ fans will hope that the future Hall of Fame duo could produce one last hurrah in the upcoming campaign.
