Leon Slater won the TNA X-Division Champion last year at Slammiversary. He became the youngest star to hold that title and came so close to being the longest-reigning champion. However, before he could do so, his loss shattered the momentum.

On the May 14, 2026, edition of Thursday Night iMPACT live from Sacramento, Cedric Alexander dethroned Slater to become the new X-Division Champion. He pinned Leon twice in their 2-out-of-3-falls match, despite the champion getting the first pinfall in the first few minutes of the match.

Cedric stole the opportunity for Leon to make history. The 20-year-old is now tied with Austin Aries for carrying the championship for 298 days.

What else happened on this TNA iMPACT episode?

The Thursday Night iMPACT live from Sacramento opened with a 16-man Battle Royal to determine the No. 1 contender for the TNA World Championship. Eric Young won by last eliminating Elijah.

Then Léi Yǐng Lee, the newly crowned two-time TNA Knockouts World Champion, thanked the fans. That’s when Xia Brookside’s music hit, as she is now gunning for that Knockouts title, for which Lee claimed to beat her in the ring tonight. Brookside said she’d soon destroy Lee, but not in Sacramento.

AJ Francis vs. KC Navarro in a Sactown Street Fight ended in a win for the former. TNA World Champion Santana then addressed Young, becoming the No. 1 Contender for his title. Santana considered Eric to be a pillar of the promotion; however, he was the one holding down the fort right now.

Director of Operations Daria Rae then came out to inform Santana that Steve Maclin is medically cleared and would face him first. Director of Authority Santino Marella also came out to make announcements regarding Indi Hartwell’s resignation. This brought their on-screen rivalry to the forefront as they took jabs and one-upped each other.

Allie and Rosemary then defeated The Diamond Collective. Then, to close out the show, the aforementioned 2-out-of-3-falls match saw Cedric Alexander defeat Leon Slater to win the X-Division Title. In the end, Giovanni Vinci, now known as Fabian Aichner, came out to confront him.
