Marc Cucurella’s Chelsea teammate, Enzo Fernandez, is reportedly eager to join him at Real Madrid this summer. Cucurella signed for Los Blancos this week amid the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed this week that Real Madrid have signed Marc Cucurella for a reported €55 million with €5 million in add-ons on a six-year deal. The Spanish defender is notably a product of the Barcelona academy, La Masia. Enzo Fernandez is another Chelsea star who’s been linked with an exit this summer, with the Argentine having previously made public statements indicating his interest in leaving the West London side.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Enzo Fernandez is keen on joining Marc Cucurella at Real Madrid. Chelsea reportedly want £120 million for the midfielder and is open to letting him go if the right fee arrives. Meanwhile, Los Blancos have been extremely active in this transfer window and are figuring out the type of profile they want to strengthen their midfield with.

Enzo Fernandez has previously been linked to a move to join the Spanish giants, and could be one of their options. However, Los Blancos are also considering other targets, with names like Matheus Fernandes and Rodri reportedly on the list.

Although Chelsea did not enjoy a great 2025-26 campaign, Enzo Fernandez was one of their better players, recording 15 goals and seven assists in 54 outings across competitions. He could fit the Real Madrid midfield well, given his form and profile, especially since Los Blancos have lacked creativity in the midfield.

In the pre-match press conference ahead of Spain’s FIFA World Cup opener against Cape Verde (June 15), Spain coach Luis de la Fuente commented on the defender’s reported move to Real Madrid. He said (via Metro UK):

“We celebrate if it’s good news for Cucu. And if something else comes up during the tournament with another team-mate and it’s good news for him, then we celebrate that, too.”

    He added:

“What is good for one of my players is good for the team as a whole. If he’s happy and content then I’m happy and content. Anything I see that brings my players happiness makes me as happy as they are.”

Marc Cucurella is expected to be a regular starter for Spain in the World Cup, and Luis de la Fuente will hope to have his mind fully on the tournament despite his reported move. The Chelsea star hasn’t made any official comments about his move yet, but reports suggest Real Madrid will announce the transfer soon.

With Spain being one of the favorites to win the World Cup, a good performance from Cucurella will prove Los Blancos’ transfer strategy this summer.
