Toronto Maple Leafs fans don’t seem excited by the prospect of the team acquiring Jason Robertson. According to recent reports, Jason turned down a big-money offer to join the NHL’s 32nd franchise, the Seattle Kraken. Following this, BarDown posed an interesting question to fans on social media.
On X, BarDown posted a tweet asking fans if the Toronto Maple Leafs should check in on Robertson. In the post’s caption, BarDown also raised the prospect of Jason uniting with his brother Nicholas Robertson.
Several fans commented under the post by BarDown. One Maple Leaf fan did not seem too excited by the prospect of Toronto checking in on Jason Robertson. The fan mentioned Jason’s brother Nicholas already gave fans a lot of headaches.
Let us take a look at more reactions:
“C’mon, you’re smarter than this. 31 teams have checked in on Jason Robertson. Of course the Leafs have,” a fan wrote.
“Won’t have the assets to make that work unfortunately. Financially wouldn’t work in a couple years either,” one fan wrote.
“It’s worth at least kicking tires on, though I worry the Stars might ask for too much in return,” a user wrote.
“Seems like these 2 brothers are always wanting more money. Arbitration coming for Nick and Jason refusing ridiculous amounts. I would stear clear of both of them, regardless. Package Nick + picks and bring in a gritty 3rd line power forward,” one user wrote.
“Pretty sure if he won’t play for Seattle, he won’t move to Toronto and play for the Leafs,” a fan wrote.
If Toronto actually checks in on Jason Robertson and lands him in Toronto, it would be the second reunion of brothers in the ongoing offseason. On June 21, the Florida Panthers acquired Brady Tkachuk in a trade with the Ottawa Senators. The move united Brady with his brother Matthew Tkachuk.
NHL Insider provides major update on Jason Robertson’s NHL future
Jason Robertson’s NHL future has become a subject of intense discussion, especially after he rejected a big-money move to Seattle. While there are plenty of rumors about the 26-year-old’s future in the league, NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun has provided a major update.
On TSN’s Insider Trading, LeBrun squashed all the rumors of Robertson moving away from Dallas by saying that he thinks the player wants to remain with the Stars. LeBrun also revealed the money Robertson is seeking.
On X, NHL Rumor Report tweeted LeBrun’s assessment. The tweet read:
“Pierre LeBrun: Jason Robertson I think wants to stay in Dallas, it’s just that he’d like to stay at his number; he wants at least $14 million a year – Insider Trading (6/26)”
The demand for Robertson comes after he had a phenomenal 2025-26 season with the Dallas Stars. In the regular season, Robertson played 82 games and scored 45 goals with 51 assists and 96 points. Even in the playoffs, Robertson scored 5 goals with 3 assists and 8 points in six games.
