Reigning and undisputed ONE heavyweight kickboxing world champion ‘The King’ Samet Agdeve of Turkey is one of the best strikers in the world today. But reaching this level came with a lot of pain and sacrifice.

In a recent interview with ONE Championship Agdeve talked about the strife he faced early on in life, most especially dealing with his mother’s battle with cancer.

‘The King’ told the world’s largest martial arts organization:

“It was a very difficult period in my life. Watching my mother battle cancer at such a young age taught me patience, resilience, and responsibility. It forced me to grow up earlier than most people. Those experiences shaped me not only as a fighter, but also as a man. They taught me how to stay strong during hard times and never give up when life becomes difficult.”

Agdeve is set to face Ukrainian tower of power Roman Kryklia in a rematch for the ONE heavyweight kickboxing world title.

The two face off in the co-main event of The Inner Circle 19, which will broadcast live in Asia primetime, exclusively for members on live.onefc.com, on Friday, June 19, from the historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Fans in the United States and Canada can catch all the action as part of a members-only viewing experience, for a small monthly subscription.

Samet Agdeve says nothing about his incredible run was lucky: “Success at this level comes from years of preparation”

‘The King’ Samet Agdeve won’t let anyone take credit for his rise to the top of ONE Championship’s global stage. The 22-year-old Turkish champion says he got to this point in his career through sheer hard work and dedication.

    ‘The King’ said:

“True champions don’t win by surprise. Success at this level comes from years of preparation, discipline, and hard work. What people call a surprise is often the result of sacrifices they never saw behind the scenes. I earned that victory, and I believe true champions create their own opportunities through dedication and belief in themselves.”

Stay tuned to Sportskeeda MMA for all the latest news and updates surrounding Samet Agdeve’s next fight.
