Hospitals across Gaza have been struck, besieged, and demolished over 18 months of war reported by a new open-source investigation.

The Centre for Information Resilience (CIR), a UK-based open-source investigations organisation, examined several major facilities across Gaza over a period of 18 months. They reported a sustained pattern of attacks leading to destruction of the major healthcare facilities. The facilities were the only point of care.
The report compiles that documentation, covering incidents at five major hospitals between January 2024 and June 2025. These incidents were verified through satellite imagery, user-generated footage, and metadata analysis().
Collapse of GAZA’s Hospital Infrastructure
On 5 June 2025, a strike hit the courtyard of Al-Ahli Arab Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, killing at least 13 people, including four journalists. The CIR verified the footage. The Israel Defence Force (IDF) said it had targeted a militant allegedly operating from the hospital site, a claim which could not be verified.
January 2024, two strikes at Al Amal Hospital, Khan Younis, hit a PRCS-run facility sheltering 14,000 displaced people, killing at least three.
At Nasser Medical Complex, CIR verified 34 incidents over three months, including tanks entering the grounds, detained staff, and mass graves later found on-site.
The IDF acknowledged “examining” the site but denied burying bodies.
Kamal Adwan Hospital, the last functioning hospital in northern Gaza, saw 17 verified incidents through late 2024, including a prolonged siege and detained medical staff, before the IDF declared its operation there complete.

By May 2025, Gaza had just two functioning public hospitals; CIR documented eight more incidents that spring, including the destruction of a medical supply warehouse and the only dialysis centre serving northern Gaza.
The IDF has consistently stated hospitals were used by Hamas for command infrastructure. Applying the same evidentiary standard across all cases, CIR states it found no independently verifiable evidence of militant presence at the hospital sites at the time of the attacks.

Over 18 months the hospitals have been struck, besieged, and in several cases demolished, several staff killed, detained, or displaced and critical equipment repeatedly destroyed — leaving Gaza’s population without adequate medical care amid war.
