How to unlock the 999 Nights event in NTE 1.2
The 999 Nights event unlocks while you progress all the way through the new main story of the 1.2 update, titled “Fighting with a Dragon.” Start by heading to Eibon, where you will speak with Nanally, and then you two will make your way to Mint’s apartment. Here you will meet two more characters, named Iroi and Shinku.

After a few more minutes of cutscene, all four of you will be teleported inside the tabletop board in front of you, and your journey in the update begins.
Gameplay details of the 999 Nights event in NTE 1.2
The 999 Nights event comes with three main difficulties, namely the Story, followed by Challenge, and lastly, Nightmare. Your first walkthrough will place you in Story difficulty inevitably, as it’s your first time through the new world. For now, you’re still within the “Fighting with a Dragon” story chain, where you can follow along the quest marker to head to different directions, and follow on-screen instructions.

There are four main locations, with each of them holding a Dragon boss to fight at the very end. As you’re going through the quest, you will also need to level up your character as per the main task, by defeating enemies, accumulating EXP points, and gear pieces. All four characters tied to this world works like their own class, with different platstyle and gears.

Here’s how the gear system works for each character:
- Each character has seven gear slots.
- There are different rarities for each gear.
- The stats on the gear you get are randomized.
- Class restrictions are active on gear, meaning Mint’s gear cannot be worn by Shinku.
- Gear sets are available, completing which grants set bonuses to the character.
To acquire gear, defeat enemies, bosses, and clear Dungeons through side quests. Note that the story version of your walkthrough can earn you upto a certain point, while you will need to rerun the whole thing in “Challenge” and “Nightmare” difficulty for high-tier gear pieces.
There are campfires scattered throughout different corners of the map as well, which you can use to refill your health, revive any of your fallen party member, or change equipments.
Note that you can only change your gear, or enhance them in any way, only when you’re near a campfire.

Besides Campfires, there’s Camps as well, which hosts a special sheep merchant called Mysterious Fuzzy Merchant, selling you Potions and gear in exchange for “Warren Gold Coins.” You can earn these coins by selling your gear and other collectibles that you picked up from the world to this same merchant.
Going through the entire story should take you about 5-6 hours in total, given that you do not skip any dialogue or interactions.
The Fuzzy village area, which acts as the introductory location to the whole quest, also provides an additional portal that will take you to a miniature version of the village. You can locate the portal at the back side of the village. Make sure to complete the initial parts of the quest, where you speak with a bunch of Fuzzy NPCs first, and then take care of a bunch of hostiles within the village area.
This will update the quest marker updates to “Try to leave Fuzzy Village.” Once you go through this portal and arrive in the mini version of the area, called “Warren Continent,” you can open your map to locate the four main areas, and head to nearest portal icon that leads to one of them.
Preferably, you should start with Chocolate Volcano, then the Milk Ice Mountain, followed by Amber Sugar Lake, and lastly to the Crimson Castle.

Lastly, once you’re done with the entire quest in story mode, you are now free to run the entire thing in “Challenge” and “Nightmare.” Doing so will increase your character’s level cap, earn you high-tier golden gear pieces, and unlock additional quests and enemies that weren’t part of your first story walkthrough.
Press F1 on PC to open up the task menu in 999 Nights. It is the book icon on the top-right of your screen.
