How to stop Paras from Aging and Dying in Paralives

Aging and dying in Paralives is part of the natural life cycle built into the game, but not everyone wants to watch a carefully crafted Para work their way toward the Elder stage and eventually pass on. Whether the goal is to freeze a character at a specific age or simply slow things down significantly, there are a couple of reliable ways to handle it during Early Access.

Both methods to stop Paras from Aging and Dying are accessible and do not require anything complicated. Here is how each one works.

Methods to prevent Paras from Aging and Dying in Paralives

Using Cheat Commands to control age directly

The most direct way to stop Paras from Aging and Dying is through the cheat console. To open it, press CTRL + SHIFT + C on the keyboard. Once the console is open, two cheats are particularly useful here:

• setage: It sets the selected Para to a specific age. For example, typing setage 23 locks the Para at 23 years old. This is the cleanest option for keeping a character at an point in their life without any guesswork.
• previouslifestage: It moves the selected Para back one life stage. So an Adult would revert to a Young Adult, for instance. This one is handy when a Para has already progressed further than intended and needs to be walked back.

Both cheats can be used as many times as needed, which makes them a flexible tool for managing any Para’s age at any point during a playthrough.

Adjusting Storyteller settings

For players who prefer a less hands-on approach, aging can be disabled through the Storyteller settings instead of relying on cheats. To do so:

• Open the Settings menu.
• Select Storyteller Settings.
• Choose Custom Storyteller.
• Locate the Household Paras Age option.
• Turn it Off to stop aging for all Paras in the active household.
• If desired, disable Non-Household Paras Age as well to pause aging across the wider world.
• To make Paras live longer without completely disabling aging, set Duration of Life Stages to Long.

This increases the amount of time Paras spend in each life stage before aging to the next one.

The eight life stages in Paralives

For reference, this new life sim has eight life stages in total. The current life stage of any Para can be checked by opening their profile:

• Baby
• Toddler
• Child
• Pre-Teen
• Teen
• Young Adult
• Adult
• Elder

Knowing where a Para sits in that progression helps decide which method makes the most sense.
