The government is exploring an incentive scheme to support polysilicon manufacturing, renewable energy secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi said.
Currently, the renewable energy ministry is implementing the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for ‘National Programme on High Efficiency Solar PV Modules’ with an outlay of ₹24,000 crore.
The current scheme, in two tranches, covers a capacity of around 48 GW of modules, cells, ingot-wafers, and polysilicon. ET had earlier reported that the government was deliberating on how to support polysilicon manufacturing apart from ingot-wafers.
