Gazelle has unveiled a completely redesigned Ultimate platform in North America, giving riders a faster take on the company’s signature Dutch-inspired comfort and refinement.
The new Ultimate C380+ 2.0 and Ultimate T11+ are both Class 3 e-bikes capable of reaching speeds up to 28 mph (45 km/h), but Gazelle says the focus wasn’t simply on making a faster bike. Instead, the company aimed to create a platform that remains comfortable, stable, and confidence-inspiring at higher speeds.
That philosophy feels very much in line with Gazelle’s reputation. While many Class 3 e-bikes chase speed through bigger motors and more aggressive geometry, Gazelle has built its name around premium commuter and trekking bikes that emphasize ride quality just as much as performance.
When I had the chance to tour Gazelle’s factory in the Netherlands a couple of years ago, that focus on rider-first comfort and control was on display as key to the company’s ethos.
At the center of the new Ultimate platform is Bosch’s new Performance Line Sport motor, producing 85 Nm of torque and upgradable to 90 Nm through the Bosch Flow app. The motor is paired with Bosch’s Smart System ecosystem and is compatible with the Bosch PowerMore range extender for riders looking to add additional battery capacity for longer rides.
To help keep the bike composed at 28 mph (45 km/h), Gazelle has upgraded the chassis with an 80 mm (3.2 inch) suspension fork and wider 55 mm (2.2 inch) tires designed to improve grip, comfort, and stability on rough pavement and mixed terrain.
The company has also modernized the cockpit with an adjustable stem that integrates either Quad Lock or SP Connect smartphone mounting systems, allowing riders to use their phones as a navigation and ride-information display. Bosch’s compact Purion 200 display handles key ride data while maintaining a clean handlebar setup.
Gazelle’s attention to detail shows up elsewhere too. The redesigned frame features fully internal cable routing and a relocated charging port positioned in the rear triangle, helping create a cleaner front-end appearance while improving charging accessibility.
The lineup launches with two distinct models.
The $4,999 Ultimate C380+ 2.0 is designed as the low-maintenance option, featuring a Gates belt drive paired with an Enviolo Trekking continuously variable hub transmission. It’s available in both step-through and high-step frame configurations.
Meanwhile, the $4,499 Ultimate T11+ takes a more performance-oriented approach with a traditional derailleur drivetrain aimed at riders who prefer a sportier and more responsive feel, particularly on steeper terrain.
Electrek’s Take
Gazelle occupies an interesting position in the e-bike industry. The company’s high-end, Dutch-made bikes aren’t competing with direct-to-consumer brands on price, and Gazelle isn’t trying to win spec-sheet battles with oversized motors or giant batteries.
Instead, Gazelle continues to focus on premium ride quality, thoughtful engineering, and long-term ownership experience.
The new Ultimate platform appears to double down on that formula while finally embracing the growing popularity of Class 3 speeds in North America. For commuters who regularly ride longer distances, the ability to cruise at 28 mph can dramatically shorten travel times, but only if the bike remains comfortable and stable enough to enjoy those speeds.
On paper, that’s exactly what Gazelle seems to be aiming for here: Dutch comfort, German Bosch reliability, and American Class 3 performance all rolled into one package.
The new Ultimate C380+ 2.0 and Ultimate T11+ are available now through Gazelle dealers across the United States, with additional models in the Ultimate lineup expected later this year.
