The Cleveland Browns just traded one of the best defensive players of all time. Myles Garrett was sent to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday.

Myles Garrett is a seven-time Pro Bowl defensive end, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year, and the holder of the NFL’s all-time single-season sack record. He signed a four-year, $160 million extension last offseason with the Browns.

Le’Veon Bell, who spent six seasons as a Pro Bowl running back with the Pittsburgh Steelers, tweeted his reaction:

“lmfao the Browns just don’t give af.”

lmfao the browns just don’t give af 😭

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Cleveland agreed to send Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for pass rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-rounder.

Cleveland had publicly said Garrett was untradeable all offseason, telling the Rams directly that no deal was happening when they inquired in March. What ultimately broke the Browns’ resistance was Los Angeles agreeing to include Verse in the package and Garrett himself choosing to waive the rare no-trade clause in his contract.

Jared Verse is a two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher who posted 12 sacks and 22 tackles for loss across his first two NFL seasons. He was the Rams’ 2024 first-round pick and was born in Dayton, Ohio, making this a homecoming.

The deal saves the Browns around $30 million in cash. They now hold 11 picks in the 2027 draft alone, including two first-rounders. For the Rams, the Super Bowl LXI is set for SoFi Stadium on Valentine’s Day 2027. Los Angeles traded for Matthew Stafford in 2021 under identical logic and won the title that season. DraftKings moved the Rams from 8-1 to 13-2 Super Bowl favorites within hours of the deal.
