As David Bakhtiari is aware, the Brandon Aiyuk situation continues to barrel along for the San Francisco 49ers. Aiyuk’s rise caught the attention of fans, but his struggles over the past year have grown an even bigger spotlight. Aiyuk appears not to be letting any of that phase him or his spending habits, either.

Aiyuk posted a series of photos on Instagram on Tuesday in which he showed himself with a pile of money and surrounded by presumably expensive items.

“I’m back 2 ballin,” the post read.

Bakhtiari wasn’t impressed and expressed a level of pity for the wide receiver.

“I feel for Brandon Aiyuk. Injuries, fame, and money can pollute the mind. If he is really spinning out and posting for all of social media to see, I hope his peers and inner circle are influencing him to get the help he needs rather than enabling for their own gain,” Bakhtiari posted.

“It seems evident that the direction he is going will not end well for anyone involved.”

Bakhtiari, who spent 11 years in the NFL, had plenty of experience watching players reach new levels of wealth, fail to handle it, and watch the implosion. The former Packers tackle might have to watch it again, he appeared to believe.

Brandon Aiyuk‘s future with the San Francisco 49ers appears to have dried up, but still years away from turning 30 with a 1,000-yard season in his recent history, the wide receiver still has trade value. As such, the 49ers have every reason to wait until the optimal moment to move on and recoup some trade capital.

However, the 49ers might still need to foot some of the bill for the 2026 season to grease the wheels of a trade.

The Washington Commanders could be a logical landing spot as a team looking to get some added reps for its young depth, but also still in need of someone who has a history of producing reliably. Such a trade might cost the Commanders a third-round pick in 2027.

Another landing spot could be the Los Angeles Rams, a team that neglected wide receiver at the top of the NFL draft. Adding Aiyuk to be the successor to Davante Adams in at the trade deadline or in 2027 makes sense, but only if Sean McVay believes he can get Aiyuk to lock in.

The 49ers might believe the team is sending away a Trojan horse, while Los Angeles might believe Aiyuk to be a fixer-upper with potential worthy of a 2027 fourth-round pick and a 2028 sixth-round pick. The addition could also help Matthew Stafford buy in as an all-in move.
