Coco Gauff’s ex-coach Brad Gilbert took a jibe at one of the basketball greats, LeBron James, who recently joined the Philadelphia 76ers ahead of the new NBA season. The 41-year-old veteran announced it was the “last decision” of his career, as he strongly contemplated retirement after leaving the Los Angeles Lakers.

There is still time for fans to witness how the four-time NBA champion fares on his return to the East. However, some parody accounts have trolled James before he represents Philadelphia. A parody account named ‘Wise Michael Jordan’ made a barb at James by compiling a video of him exaggerating minimal contact to draw a foul.

Gilbert, who has previously lampooned the $1.4B NBA star, once again attacked James with the “LaFlopper” title and commented on X:

    “LaFlopper at his finest.”

Even when the move was confirmed last month, Gilbert voiced his dissatisfaction about James’ arrival at Philadelphia and claimed that he would make the team older.

While Coco Gauff’s former coach isn’t a big fan of LeBron James, the two-time Grand Slam champion has shown mutual respect for the basketball legend. Earlier this year at the Miami Open, Gauff stormed into the final while wearing the same New Balance cap throughout her campaign.

After punching her ticket to the final, the Tennis Channel hosts asked Gauff about her accessory. While the 22-year-old admitted that she wasn’t a fan of it, she joked that fans would remember her hat just like LeBron James’ mask.

“I don’t even know because I actually don’t like it at all. Well, it started because I was practicing with it because I didn’t feel like doing my hair that day, and then I just kept with it. And then I won my first round. I was like, Well, I have to keep this,” Coco Gauff explained (Via Sports Illustrated).

“No. If I win this tournament, then I’ll just go. Maybe this can be, you know, how they have like LeBron [James] with the mask, and it could just be Coco with the hat and just tired and left like that,” she added.

On the tennis front, Coco Gauff is scheduled to compete at the Canadian Open on Tuesday. The fourth seed received a bye in the first round and will square off against Diane Parry or a qualifier in her campaign opener.
