    Ryan Ruocco slammed the WNBA‘s ecosystem on Thursday, while highlighting the league’s treatment of Caitlin Clark. The sportscaster believed the league remains biased and used the Fever star as an example to prove his point, a take that earned praise from Clark fans.

    A fan handle shared a clip of Ruocco on X (formerly Twitter), as he slammed the WNBA’s current ecosystem, believing people should be allowed to be “critical” and not be ostracized for it.

    “For this league to grow, people have to feel comfortable being critical and it not being a personal attack or hating,” Ruocco said. “And people have to be critical of more than just Caitlin Clark, quite frankly.

    “In my opinion, most of the ecosystem feels comfortable being critical about one player, maybe two. Angel would be the other. Everybody else people are very afraid to say anything bad about, even if it’s a very small micro thing, and that’s not real sports.”

    The sportscaster’s remarks quickly gained attention online as Clark fans praised him for his honesty about the current state of the WNBA.

    “Ryan is always the smartest person in the room when it comes to basketball talk,” a fan wrote.

    @nosyone4 @NerdyVariety Ryan always the smartest person in the room when it comes to basketball talk

    @nosyone4 Well said Ryan🤝✍️💯

    @nosyone4 @clarkmode_ Ryan and Rebecca Lobo have always been real towards CC. I have always respected them.

    @nosyone4 @caitscroptop Love Ryan, he has always been one of the few that is truly in Caitlin’s corner

    Rucco always calling it fair

    Ruocco’s comments come amid a season in which fans, media and the players alike have targeted Caitlin Clark.

    The Fever star has been a talking point all season, with the media criticizing her for refusing to get involved in topics away from the court, while players have often been confrontational toward her during games.

    The sportscaster also highlighted how criticism remains an important aspect of sport, something WNBA fans seem to do only when discussing the likes of Clark and Angel Reese.

    Ryan Ruocco claims Caitlin Clark is “statistically” the best point guard ever and highlights her backcourt partnership with Kelsey Mitchell

    Caitlin Clark is enjoying a stellar campaign following an injury-laden season last year. The guard remains one of the league’s highest scorers and leads the WNBA in assists, with many tipping her as an MVP candidate.

    Ryan Ruocco was among those praising Clark’s performance and, on Thursday, made a bold claim, believing Clark is “statistically” the best point guard the WNBA has ever seen.

    “Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell right now are playing as well as any backcourt has in the history of this league,” Ruocco said. “If you look at it by the numbers, you could absolutely make an argument that Caitlin is having the greatest statistical season ever by a point guard in this league.”

    Clark and Mitchell are currently in the MVP race and have cemented themselves as the best backcourt in the WNBA.
