Austria and Tunisia clash at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion in Vienna on Monday in a friendly international encounter. Both teams are headed to North America in the coming days to take part in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Hosts Austria earned their ticket to the World Cup by winning UEFA qualifying Group H. This will be Das Team‘s first World Cup appearance since 1998.

Austria’s mission in Group J begins on 17 June against Jordan before games against defending champions Argentina (22 June) and Algeria (28 June).

Austria’s two most recent matches were friendlies in March in which Ralf Rangnick’s men dismantled Ghana 5-1 and beat South Korea 1-0.

Meanwhile, Tunisia qualified for the showpiece competition in North America by dominating Group H of the CAF qualifiers and keeping clean sheets throughout the 10 matches, winning nine.

The Eagles of Carthage will mix it up with Sweden, Japan, and the Netherlands in Group F, and should not be underestimated.

In March, Tunisia secured a narrow 1-0 win over Haiti before holding World Cup co-hosts Canada to a goalless draw. They have organized one final friendly against Belgium following the Austria match, and will play against the Red Devils on 6 June.

    • There have been two matches between these sides, with Austria winning one and the other ending in a draw.
    • The most recent meeting in this fixture took place in 2007, with the score ending goalless.
    • The latest FIFA World Rankings reveal that Austria are ranked 24th, while Tunisia are in 44th position.
    • Tunisia have qualified for the World Cup on seven occasions, while Austria have taken part in the global showpiece event eight times.

    Austria vs Tunisia prediction

Tunisia have shown a solid defensive approach throughout the qualifiers, and they will be difficult to break down. Austria’s high-intensity pressing game will be put to the test against the Carthage Eagles, and they will provide excellent preparation for their respective World Cup campaigns.

Austria have home advantage and will be determined to have a positive send-off for their supporters before traveling to North America, but Tunisia will not make things easy for Rangnick’s side.

We expect this game to end in a narrow victory for Das Team.

    Prediction: Austria 2-1 Tunisia
