Star Team India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a duck in the ongoing warmup match against Sri Lanka Cricket XI (SLC) XI at the Nondescripts Cricket Club ground in Colombo. The two-match Test series is scheduled to begin on August 15.
SLC XI batted first and declared their innings at 363/8. In reply, Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul walked out to the middle. Jaiswal’s stay at the crease was very short as he was sent back on the very second ball of the innings. The left-hander chased a full and wide delivery well outside the off-stump, only getting a leading edge while trying to slash it through backward point.
After getting out on a poor shot for a duck, Jaiswal was seen hitting the nets right away while the game was going on. He was seen in the training kit, all padded up, and batted for an hour after the dismissal, determined to make a strong comeback as his struggles against left-arm pacers continued.

Jaiswal’s form in his last five Test innings has been slightly worrying, with scores of 12, 0, 58, 13, and 24. India will want the southpaw to bounce back and will rely on his performances at the top. It will be a crucial series for both the batter and India, as they aim to stay alive in the race to make the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Test record
Since his Test debut in 2023 against the West Indies, Yashasvi Jaiswal has established himself as a key member of the team in the longest format. So far, he has played 29 matches.
In 54 innings, he has scored 2535 runs at an average of 48.75 with seven hundreds and 13 half-centuries, with a highest score of an unbeaten 214. The 24-year-old is yet to play a Test match against or in Sri Lanka.
Jaiswal, however, has a good record in familiar subcontinental conditions. In 15 Tests at home, he has scored 1417 runs at an average of 54.50 with three hundreds and eight half-centuries.
