Adam Copeland and Christian Cage made an appearance tonight in AEW and were involved in a major backstage fight. They were getting payback for an attack on them a few weeks ago.
One week after Double or Nothing, the legendary duo came out to celebrate their first tag team title reign in more than two decades. As they were about to do their iconic 5-Second Pose, they were attacked by David Finlay and Clark Connors. Cope & Christian have not been seen since then.
The Dogs have gone on to pick up great momentum, and have even earned their spot as the number one contenders to the tag team titles after taking down the Young Bucks. They have staked their claim as the ones to dethrone Adam Copeland and Christian Cage.
The duo was scheduled for a segment tonight on AEW Dynamite. But as they were making their entrance, they had unexpected company backstage. Cope and Christian appeared out of nowhere and attacked them. All four men kept brawling around the stage until The Dogs were able to break free.
After this, the former WWE duo grabbed microphones and had a few words to say to them. Christian Cage, as usual, went low and had a ton of insults for the two of them. Adam Copeland had a more straightforward response, and he seemed to confirm that at Forbidden Door, they’ll put their titles on the line against them.
They were the veterans now, and The Dogs reminded them of their younger selves. With this in mind, Copeland looked determined to take them down and send them a message with this. This bout should be make official by Tony Khan soon and will be another interesting contest added to the pay-per-view at the end of this month.
