Welcome to the Friday edition of the WWE News Roundup, where we bring you the latest updates from the world of the sports entertainment juggernaut. Today, we have some hot scoops.
A female WWE legend hilariously claimed she could take on Oba Femi. John Cena’s ‘handpicked’ female star from last year gave a crucial injury update ahead of a huge Championship match. Meanwhile, Roman Reigns’ old rival threatened to beat him for the second time in 14 months, and finally, we have an important Rhea Ripley update.
Thanks for the submission!
So let’s get right into it!
#4. Trish Stratus makes a hilarious claim

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Trish Stratus said that no opponent is off the table. Even an intergender match-up against Oba Femi doesn’t seem to be off the cards for the WWE Hall of Famer, as she jokingly said:
“Oba Femi? Yeah, I could totally take him. Oh my God. Chick Kick!” she said.
It has been a few years now since Stratus wrestled. She was in a feud with Becky Lynch that left some fans underwhelmed, and it also failed to elevate Zoey Stark as it was originally meant to.
Either way, she will get a hero’s reception whenever she decides to come back to WWE.
#3. John Cena’s handpicked female star Kendal Grey update after her injury

Last year, John Cena handpicked Kendal Grey to be in the Women’s Iron Survivor Match, and she won, announcing herself to the world. To many who have seen prospects come and go, Kendal Grey is as good a prospect as one can get regardless of gender, and the expectations are through the roof.
The weight of the NXT Women’s Championship is also a factor, but Kendal Grey has that top-tier mentality. Ahead of her NXT Women’s Title match against Kelani Jordan at Heatwave, she revealed that she isn’t 100% recovered from her last title defense earlier this month. Speaking to Busted Open Radio, Grey said that she isn’t 100% just yet:
“I definitely wouldn’t say I’m 100%. I still have ringing in the ear. I’m still not 100% balanced. We’re still doing a lot of rehab for it and doing a lot of stuff to get everything back to normal. It’s a slow process,” she said.
Grey added that she’s more concerned about her next title defense than she is about recovery. That won’t be good for her sustainability, but still, she shows Championship mentality at every turn.
#2. Roman Reigns’ old rival threatens to beat him again

Roman Reigns hasn’t been defeated many times, but if he remains the World Heavyweight Champion for the rest of the year, he’s going to have one very interesting challenger. Provided he can return, “Big” Bronson Reed is the last man to beat The OTC in a singles match, which could give him the claim to a title shot.
The timing could work out for Wrestlepalooza: Perth, which was announced for December this year. Bronson Reed, although injured, didn’t hesitate to take a shot at Reigns, stating that he might “mess around and beat Roman again”.
With the two being 1-1, this is the perfect setting for a trilogy match, and Perth is a great stage to do it.
#1. Rhea Ripley makes a huge appearance change
WWE fans are genuinely concerned about the health and status of Rhea Ripley, who last defended her World Championship at Clash in Italy 2026. Since then, the company has been vague about her status, even going on to crown an Interim Women’s Champion in Chelsea Green.
To fans, Chelsea Green is the real Champion now, and Ripley is on the sidelines, with no news in sight about her in-ring future. She posted a huge appearance change on Instagram. But what was even more interesting was the fact that Ripley posted a story saying, “enjoying this while I can”. This was a very vague update.
It could mean that she could be back on the road soon, or it could also mean that she isn’t close to recovery. Either way, WWE is going to have to answer sooner rather than later.
