Hyundai and Kia’s record sales streak in the US continued in July with electrified vehicles driving growth.

If you’re seeing more and more Hyundai and Kia vehicles on the road, it’s not just you. The Korean automakers are selling more vehicles in the US than ever, thanks to a growing lineup of electric and hybrid models.

Hyundai sold 82,480 vehicles in the US last month, up 4%, its best-ever July sales. Kia, on the other hand, sold 75,867, also a new July sales record.

Both companies sold a record number of electrified vehicles, including hybrids and pure electric models. Hyundai’s hybrid sales rose 35% compared to July 2025. The Hyundai Sonata HEV, Elantra HEV, and Tucson HEV set new July sales records.

Kia’s hybrid sales surged 108% from last year. The Sportage hybrid, Carnival hybrid, and Sorento all set new sales records last month.

In terms of EVs, sales of Hyundai’s best-seller, the IONIQ 5, fell 38% to 3,636. Through July, IONIQ 5 sales are down 2% with 34,366 units sold.

Sales of Hyundai’s three-row IONIQ 9 slipped 35% with 700 units sold last month. Through July, Hyundai sold 5,558 IONIQ 9s, up 166% from last year.

Kia also sold fewer EVs last month than the year prior. While EV6 sales are down around 34% so far this year (4,717 units), sales of the three-row IONIQ 9 are up around 30% this year, with 8,685 units sold.

“Kia’s momentum continues to increase as we see widespread interest in a variety of models across our entire lineup, from sedans to SUVs, to hybrids and all-electric powertrains,” said Eric Watson, vice president of Kia America sales.

Later this year, Kia is launching the EV3, a smaller, more affordable electric SUV. The EV3 is already among the top-selling electric vehicles in Europe and other overseas markets.

Kia has yet to confirm prices, but the 2027 EV3 is expected to start at around $35,000. Watson said with the new Seltos now in showrooms, strong demand for the redesigned Telluride, and the affordable EV3 launching later this year, “Kia is poised to continue setting records throughout the second half.”
